Radical Raspberry SmoothieThis smoothie was created for all the raspberry lovers out there. In case you didn’t know, raspberries are my favorite food.

I grew up picking wild red raspberries in a field behind my house, and sometimes from the neighbors garden ;)

My interest in foraging wild foods has since expanded. Although raspberries are still one of my favorite things to harvest. Black raspberries are most common where I live now, and as it turns out they pack more nutrition than the red variety. They certainly live up to the nickname “king of berries”.

This dreamy smoothie is similar to the one’s I make for breakfast. It’s loaded with nutrition and macronutrients to keep you full of energy and satiated until lunch. There’s plenty of healthy fat, ample protein, and it’s low in sugar – a winning combo in my book.

Elixirs replace smoothies in my regimen when there’s freezing temps and snow, which is about 4 months a year living in Michigan.

As with smoothies, I recommend developing a go-to elixir or two. My staple elixir is tailored to my personal nutritional needs and health goals, as should yours. Having a go-to elixir takes the guesswork out of what I’m having for breakfast and allows me to stock up on ingredients in bulk.

Why am I enthralled with colostrum? Why is it considered nature’s perfect food?

Every mammal produces colostrum as the first food for their new born baby. That alone should tell you something. Colostrum is a complete whole food, containing immune factors, growth factors, and a bevy of nutrients including all essential amino acids, fatty acids, and glyconutrients.

Colostrum, like coconut oil and chia seeds, is a staple ingredient in my smoothies and elixirs.
